The Lion King (2019)

Happy New Year guys! I hope your holidays went well but here's to a new decade and five years of being a published blog :D Anyways, Movie of the Night was The Lion King! The 2019 one :P Not the animated one.

In this classic Disney movie, Simba (voiced by Donald Glover) is going through the hardships of his father, Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones), who has died and is living by the motto, Hakuna Matata. But in actuality, his lying uncle was the one who made Mufasa die, so Simba has to take his right true place as king for Pride Rock. With his friends, Pumbaa (voiced by Seth Rogen), Timon (voiced by Billie Eichner), and Nala (voiced by Beyonce) Simba battles his uncle for the throne as king. Oh yeah and there's Zazu (voiced by John Oliver) and Rafiki (voiced by John Kani). They may not exactly be Simba's friends but as old family friends, he would not have gotten far without their help.

This movie has always been in my top 5 favorite Disney movies, but nothing beats Beauty and the Beast at Number 1 ;) Anyways, I did not mind the CGI, but there were moments where it seemed a little bit strange to be seeing live animals talking but the producers did a pretty good job with it. The only thing that I have to complain about it is the fact that Seth Rogen plays Pumbaa and hearing his voice come out of a warthog's mouth was the weirdest thing coming from this movie. They also stuck to the story line almost word for word, and it was like reliving my childhood. The nostalgia is real with this movie. I have to admit: my eyes watered when I saw Mufusa die. Other than that, this movie is just like the classic animation that I might have to watch again.

*Rated PG for sequences for violence and peril

My Rating: A
