Ouija

Hey guys! How's it going? Can you believe it? We're already halfway through the year. I don't know about you, but it feels like a lot has happened this year. Anyways, since it's getting super duper hot over here I'm ready for spooky season so I started watching the scary movies again and you're in for a ride haha. So without further ado, Movie of the Night from the other Night: Ouija!

Saying goodbye to a friend is always hard especially when they pass away. For Laine Morris (played by Oliva Cooke), she was not going to stop until she was able to physically say goodbye and if that meant grabbing the Ouija board that was in her friend's room where she passed away so be it. Laine and her friends thought that by using the board would help bring closure, but little did they know they unlocked a portal for spirits to come and go, and one of them is not going to leave them alone until she lets them know what happened to their friend.

This movie has been on my To Watch list for the longest time, and the fact that I actually got to see it made me giddy. So if you know me: I like my scary movies, however I do not like the jump scares. I know. Weird. Surprisingly, this one didn't have a lot of those. The anticipation of the scary moment is what gets me and it made me want more. I wanted to know what was going to happen to each of the teenagers. They all seem to have their own thing when it came to the deceased, so it was interesting how each one was going to die. Oddly enough, I watched this movie series out of order, so I ended up watching the prequel before watching this one but I did want to rate them in order. I'm actually glad I watched the prequel first, because if I did watch this one and then the prequel, I would have been so confused, and it's not like they don't dive deeper into the history of the spirit but I thought it would have been a little confusing for those who didn't even watch the prequel. You know how some movies tell some of the origin story using another character. They did that, but there's still a little confusion on who that other character was. Fun fact: It's Lin Shaye from the Insidious movies. Anyways, the movie is still good though, so if you're looking for something spooky check it out on Netflix! And make sure you don't watch it alone!

Rated PG-13 for frightening horror images, disturbing violent content and thematic elements

My Rating: B
