The Babysitter: Killer Queen

Hey guys! How's it going? Suprisingly, I'm not melting... yet. It hasn't been that bad this summer, but I know for a fact it's going to get hotter. It has been in the triple digits but no more than 115. At least that I know of. But it's still unbearable so I've been enjoying AC and staying indoors for the most part. Anyways, Movie of the Night: The Babysitter: Killer Queen!

It's been two years since Cole (played by Judah Lewis) almost died from cultists who knew his former babysitter, Bee (played by Samara Weaving). The thing is he's still healing from it and no one tends to believe anything that he's saying. Not even his parents. So when he decides to skip school with his friend Melanie (played by Emily Alyn Lind), something weird happens, and the cultists are back but this time, they are out to sacrifice Cole, and Bee isn't around to help him. With his new friend Phoebe (played by Jenna Ortega), Cole does his best to stay alive but not without learning something about his new friend and what his sacrifice means for the cultists who are out for blood.

I didn't even realize there was a second movie was out until I was scrolling on Netflix and found this bad boy. I remember doing the review for the first movie several years ago, and it was one of those movies I decided to watch by myself. It's actually not that bad if you do decide to watch it by yourself, because the movie is more silly than scary. This one is as silly as well as gory. I forgot how much gore there was in the first movie until the first kill in this movie because holy cow! It's not all blood and killing but still. Be wary if you are squeamish. I'm also surprised the original actor decided to come back and do his character as Cole, because as an awkward 16-year-old, he kind of fits the character as the innocent sacrifice... At least until he has sex with Phoebe. His character contrasts Jenna Ortega very well too, and don't get me started on her character because that's something on her own haha. I do like how the creators of the movie tied in Bee at the end though, because you don't really get to see her that much in this movie, but I'm still glad they managed to incorporate her in an interesting way. So if you are looking for some kind of spooky yet silly movie to watch, I would recommend this one. Just make sure to watch the first one to understand what's going on otherwise you'll be wondering why there are two sets of cultists. That and why Cole is so special. This movie came out during the pandemic, so I hardly doubt this came in theaters, but if it did, I would have watched it on the big screen.

*Rated TV-MA for violence and gore, language, frightening and intense scenes, mild sex and nudity and mild drug usage
