Hey guys! How's it going? I know. It's been a couple weeks. I've been a little busy with the spooky season, but I'm back and with another spooky movie. This one is a little bit older, but I was highly recommended to watch it and after seeing one of my friends dress up as her during a pilates class, I might as well haha. So Movie of the Night: Black Swan!
Hard working Nina Sayers (played by Natalie Portman) has always wanted the main part of the ballet, and in order to do so, she has to make sure everything is perfect. The positions, the point of her toe, and even getting into character even if that means putting herself into situations the Black Swan would do. The thing is she might be working a little too hard that not only is she scratching her shoulder a little bit too much, her mind isn't exactly in the right state. Her backup, Lily (played by Mila Kunis) and her director Thomas (played by Vincent Cassel) don't seem trustworthy and her mom is not exactly helping but she has to make sure everything goes just right even if that means becoming the Black Swan.
I have been wanting to watch a psychological thriller that would get my heart pumping a bit, and this movie definitely did it. I'm still surprised this is my first time watching it, and this movie came out in 2010. I've heard of it but I never sat down and watched it and ever since I did, I'm still tripping about how crazy it is. Natalie Portman did an amazing job not only playing a shy yet hard working woman who just really wants the main part in the ballet, but she is also trying to somewhat find herself without her overbearing mother being in the way. Also the CGI effects in the 2010's were something else. I think it depended on the movie, but the transitions between her delusions and reality was insanely good. Not to mention Nina pulling the feather out of her scratch on her shoulder which by the way is such an intriguing moment of the movie. Talk about becoming one with the character. I also did not realize the amount of actresses that were going to be in this movie from Natalie Portman to Mila Kunis to even Winona Ryder, and can I just say: Amazing performances all around. That ending though! I was not expecting that at all, and I think that's what got me the most, because since a lot of the delusions seem somewhat real, it was hard to figure out what was real and what was fake so that was definitely interesting to watch. I found this bad boy on Hulu, so if you're still in the spooky mood (which I am) check it out or watch it again!
Rated R for language, sexual content, disturbing violent images, and drug usage
My Rating: A+

We ended on a bad time. I miss talking to you. Hopefully one day we'll reconnect if it's meant to be.
