Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Hey guys! How's it going? Can you believe it's already Christmas week? This month has flown by so fast. It probably doesn't help that I've been a wee bit busy with the holiday season, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the holiday movies. So Movie of the Night: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York!

In this second installment of the Home Alone series, Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) stays with the family this time around... except when he gets lost in the terminal and ends up on a plane to New York while his family goes to Florida. This time around though he has his dad's wallet, so he's able to get food and shelter in one of the most nicest place in New York, The Plaza Hotel. Not only that, he gets to enjoy some of the amenities the hotel has to offer like the pool, room service, and even have housekeeping do some of his dry cleaning. It's all fun and games until he bumps into the Sticky Bandits who are trying to rob a toy store, so it's up to Kevin to make sure the kids at the hospital get the toys they deserve on Christmas day... All while not getting caught by hotel employees either since they seem to be suspicious he's there alone.

I can't believe I didn't rate this movie, but I did rate the first one. I just forgot when I did. I do think this one is a little bit silllier than the first one and it's not just because Tim Curry is in this one. Although he does make an interesting concierge trying to catch Kevin while getting bamboozled by a movie Kevin just watched. I think it's because Kevin is alone in a different city that makes it a little bit more interesting, because he can't just stay in the hotel in the Big Apple. He has to look around and check out all the sites like Central Park and Duncan's Toy Shop, but I did think the adults were a little bit more attentive because he was using a credit card or flaunting cash around. That's for sure. I almost forgot Rob Schneider is in this movie too. You almost forget how old this movie is until you see how young the actors and actresses are. But this movie definitely helped me get in the spirit of the holidays, because not only is Kevin enjoying his Christmas trees, but he's also helping children in need. The maneuvers didn't change from the first movie though, so I thought that was a hoot every time Marv (played by Daniel Stern) and Harry (played by Joe Pesci) got pelted by something like a brick or a tool chest. The fact that he had help was something else too, because he wouldn't have been able to shake them off if he didn't have the Pigeon Lady (played by Brenda Fricker). I do wish I was able to watch this one on the big screen. It would have been amazing seeing this with my family.

*Rated PG for mild language and comic action

My Rating: A
