Hey guys! How's it going? I know. It's been a minute. I have been a little busy with life lately, but I have had to adjust some things including when I post reviews too, so I hope you don't mind if you see movie reviews scattered. But that doesn't mean I'm busy to not watch a movie, and oddly enough, I started this one with my family but I had to finish it for myself so Movie of the Night: The Wrecking Crew!
Estranged brothers James Hale (played by Dave Bautista) and Jonny Hale (played by Jason Mamoa) are brought together by their father's mysterious death. Well, at least to Jonny it seems a little strange that he was hit by a car however James thinks it's a normal hit and run. Since Jonny doesn't exactly have much to go back home to, he decides to dive deeper into his father's death while James is trying to live his normal life but his wife thinks it's the perfect time to patch things up with Jonny. What seems like a normal death turns out to be something more, and these brothers need to work together in order to figure out what their dad was doing in order for him to die.
I wish I watched this movie on the big screen. The fact that it went straight to Amazon Prime was a little disappointing, but I guess streaming services have to make money somehow. The action in this movie seems so fit for theaters, but I guess it is what it is. I mean it's no Michael Bay film where there's just random explosions but there are still some explosions. And it's somewhat comically placed throughout the movie. Anyways, Dave Bautista and Jason Mamoa have such a connection, it almost seems like they are brothers, and even though it takes place in Hawaii, it seems fitting for the both of them. Maybe not when Jonny is wearing a leather jacket on the beach during his dad's funeral but fitting nonetheless. The sleuthing between the two is pretty interesting too. I was not expecting a familiar face to help them figure things out, but if you watched Spider-Man with Tom Holland then you'll know who I'm talking about. What I thought was going to be a pretty shallow plot line was a little bit more intriguing. Maybe because I like the detective work (I tend to gravitate towards those books) but if you don't mind a little bit of chatter between brothers and a bit of action, you should check it out on Amazon Prime. You might find yourself chuckling a little bit with the banter these two have to offer to eachother.
*Rated R for language, drug use, sexual material and bloody violence
