The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Hey guys! How's it going? I'm doing well. Just hanging out and chilling. The weather has been chilling out too but I know it's going to get warmer so I'm just taking advantage of the nice weather for the time being. I know I might be spending time in the pool this summer though because it is going to be hot. Anyways, Movie of the Night: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie!

Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day) are back at it with the adventures except this time Bowser Jr. (voiced by Benny Safdie) is coming for his dad and he will not go down without a fight. With the help from some unexpected guests like a certain green dinosaur and Fox McCloud (voiced by Glen Powell), Mario and Luigi make sure to take care of the Mushroom Kingdom as well as make sure Bowser (voiced by Jack Black) doesn't escape. All the while Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) is out to help Rosalina (voiced by Brie Larson) since Bowser Jr. is using her power for something a little bit more sinister.

I'm not going to lie: When I got to the movie theater, I was already getting a little tired because I just had a hefty meal and I was a little lethargic but I still managed to enjoy the movie on the big screen because I got to see one of my favorite Nintendo characters and no. It's not Rosalina. Yoshi's introduction was not only adorable but I was expecting a little bit more bonding time with Mario and Luigi and he does. It just seems like it was a little rushed when it came to that bonding time but the montage created a cute little segue into the three working together. Fox was definitely a surprise to me and I never even played the Star Fox game series. I just know him, because I play Smash on occasion. Oh! Did I mention the amount of cameos of Nintendo characters? From Pikman to R.O.B to Mr. Game and Watch. It was just crazy and a little overwhelming just to see all the characters since there's already so much going on in the movie. I am a little bummed out Jack Black didn't sing another banger, but he has been in a lot of children's movies lately and just belting them out. I am pretty happy I got to see this movie on the big screen mainly because Bowser Jr. created a planet for Bowser so that when he got out of the Mushroom Kingdom he had somewhere to go and the lights on this planet are not just blindingly neon, but it is crazy with activity with the Koopa's and Kamek's (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) work. I liked watching it on the big screen but the fact that it already hit Amazon Prime already so soon, I feel like I could have saved the money and streamed it, but it is definitely a must watch with the kids if they like the Nintendo world.

Rated PG for rude humor, mild violence and action

My Rating: B
